I call these ethereal paintings waterscapes, or pool paintings because I create them by pouring pools of pigment laden water onto canvas or linen. On a primed substrate the pigment settles while the water evaporates leaving dramatic or delicate shapes on the canvas. With an unprimed surface the water seeps into the fibers to stain and create slowly inching forms. These paintings were first created after recovering from grave illness while I had a clarity of mind that I craved to recreate. I saw my life as a series of layers and myself as creation of those pieces. Instinctively I created the first pool-waterscapes and they continue to evolve just as I do.
